ANNIE HUI-HSIN HSIEH is a Taiwanese-Australian composer currently based in the United States. Her music has been presented internationally at events including Huddersfield Festival of Contemporary Music, Metropolis New Music Festival, Eavesdropping Symposium London, SEAMUS National Conference, Tectonic Festival (Adelaide), ISCM World Music Days, International Rostrum of Composers, Pittsburgh Festival of New Music, MATA Festival, Queens New Music Festival, and Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music. Some recent commissions include The Arts Centre Melbourne, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Wien Modern, Lucerne Festival, Foundation Royaumont, Lucerne Festival, Red Fish Blue Fish, and ELISION Ensemble, among others.
She received support from APRA Art Music Fund, New Music USA, the Australian Cultural Fund, Australian Council of the Arts grants, and the National Cultural and Arts Foundation (Taiwan). She was awarded the 2020 Monash International Woman’s Day Composition Commission Prize. Annie completed doctoral studies at the University of California, San Diego, and is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor of composition and electronic music at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA.
